Traditional Pierogi Tasting at Villa Milagro
Every culture has it’s stuffed dumpling – Chinese pot stickers, Mexicans empanadas, Italians raviolis and Polish pierogis. Filled with meat and vegetables these little packages of flavor can be lightly sautéed or served in a sauce. And they can be paired with wine! Krakus Deli of Phillipsburg will offer samples of its traditional, homemade pierogis at Villa Milagro Vineyards on Saturday and Sunday, November 11-12 from noon to 5:00pm
Krakus Deli is owned by Renata Fedoryszak. Born in Lesko, in south-eastern Poland near the resort areas of the Bieszczady Mountains, Renata immigrated to the US at age 30. In 2006 she opened Krakus Deli in Phillipsburg to serve popular dishes from her homeland, including stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, strudel and other complicated to prepare dishes. Her restaurant offers eat-in and take-out service and draws customers from miles who long for homemade classics as well as to purchase imported Polish ingredients sold in the grocery section of her store. To further make these favorites available, Renata attends farmers markets in Riverdale, NY, Watchung, New Providence, Roseland, Morris Plains, Bernardsville, Scotch Plains and Brick, NJ.
She will offer pierogi samples this Saturday and Sunday at Villa Milagro Vineyards and will have pierogis available to purchase and take home. Wine sampling, a glass of wine to pair with the pierogis sampling and a gift glass to take home for $10.
Villa Milagro Vineyards, located on the banks of the Delaware River near Riegelsville NJ and PA, frequently host tasting events to feature local good producers who share their commitment to sustainable agricultural practices. The vineyard grows 8 varieties of grapes used to make their old world style wines. They are open for wine tastings on Sat-Sun from 11am to 6pm and during the week from 9-5 for purchases.
