Say Humbug to Hunger
River Union Stage is proud to once again share in the holiday spirit with their 9th Annual reading of Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL to benefit local food pantries. The performance will take place as part of the Christmas in Milford celebration on December 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Milford, 70 Bridge Street, Milford, NJ. As in previous years, admission is free with a donation of a non-perishable food item for local food pantries in Frenchtown and Milford, NJ.
The performances will be presented in reader’s theatre style, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the beautiful prose narrative as well as the more familiar dialogue of Dickens’ classic work. The reading will once again feature Todd Lewis as Ebenezer Scrooge, joined by Alison Gilheany, Jeffrey Lanigan, Keith Strunk and Laura Swanson reading Dickens’ other beloved characters.
Food donations will be distributed by the Presbyterian Church to food pantries in Milford and Frenchtown. Please check to be sure all donations are not beyond their expiration date for freshness. Checks made out to a specific food pantry will also be accepted. For a list of needed items, visit riverunionstage.org/coming-events.
Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through funds administered by the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission. River Union Stage is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit Professional Equity Theater.
