Masquerade Bids Farewell to Winter
Tired of winter? “Let’s Just Have a Ball!” is this event’s answer to the seasonal blues.
On Saturday, March 4, everyone is invited to gather at Holly Hedge Estate in Solebury, for a new kind of masked ball. The event begins with cocktails at an open bar, moves on to a three-course seated dinner from the Holly Hedge Chef and then music, dancing and surprise guest performances.. Don’t worry about your dance moves, everyone will be wearing a mask! Best of all, the Free Library of New Hope and Solebury will benefit from your enjoyment.
“Everyone who attended our summer ‘Rum-ba in the Garden’ at Hortulus Farm KNOWS we put on a lively, chic, and fabulously fun affair,” says Lawrence Booth, member of the Friends of the Library and former president. “We want people to meet other community members and just enjoy themselves,” he said. “Even people whose schedule or lifestyle keeps them from using the library are welcome to just have a ball!”
Booth and his committee of party planners wanted to evoke the spirit of Mardi Gras without being tied to a Tuesday. “Masks are definitely part of the fun,” says party planner Denise Pieretti, who is amassing a selection of feathered and sequined eye masks to pass out. Guests may also bring one they make or own, if they prefer. “Masks free you to have extra fun, and you can come in jeans or black tie–your choice,” says Pieretti.
There will be a unique auction at the event: a cocktail party for up to 24 people to be held at the newly renovated library–even outside, weather permitting. “This is a first for the community,” says committee member Jacqui Griffith, and we promise whoever wins it will have a hard time choosing which friends can attend because it will be such a coveted invitation!”
