The very end of summer is often the sweetest; those blissful cafefree nights just before Labor Day when you soak in the warm breeze that you know will soon give-way to crisp fall air.
Well, here’s the perfect way to spend one of those evenings. Prallsville Mills in Stockon is hosting Sights & Sounds on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm featuring local art and live music.
ThePrallsville Mill complex include a historic Grist Mill- a sprawling stone building with milling machines and delightful architectural details- the Saw Mill – which has existed intermittently on the site since 1750 – the The Prall House – built in 1790 as the home of John Prall Jr., who served as a lieutenant in the American Revolution – and The 1850 River House.
Art from Rebecca Hodges will be on display. Rebecca began her professional career when she was commissioned to do the painting for the stage backdrop for American hard rock musician Meat Loaf; noted for the Bat out of Hell album trilogy. Her initial production of works were still life paintings. Influenced by views of the countryside in the rolling hills of Stockton NJ, Hodges turned toward the creation of representational painting of subjects in her surroundings. This included her interpretation of her environment in both the landscape and still life where she concentrated on developing her technical skills. Rebecca is known for giving her paintings a sense of the ethereal in a highly realistic fashion, yet with an almost painterly feel.
Admission is $30, which includes beer & wine. Kids enter for free and food will be for sale.
