Frenchtown United Methodist Church is starting off the festivities of Bastille Day with a Quiche Breakfast to be held at the church on Saturday July 16 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. For $7.00 per plate, guests receive a selection of quiche, fresh fruit, coffee, tea or lemonade. Selections will include a traditional Quiche Lorraine, vegetarian & gluten free, a “3-piggy quiche which will include bacon, sausage and ham, as well as many others. Pastor Peter Mantell said that this is part of an extended effort on behalf of the church to be more engaged within the community of Frenchtown. “Church, by its very nature, should be more about community than doctrine, and we hope to demonstrate that with some really amazing food!”
In fact, food seems to be at the heart of much of the work that Pastor Mantell and his wife Anna bring to Frenchtown’s United Methodist Church. Last September, they launched Third Street Dinner Church, an interactive church service during which congregants participate in the making and sharing of a simple vegetarian dinner. In addition, since their arrival, the church has increased its giving to local food pantries, and there is more being planned. Both Mantells believe that food is a natural foundation to building community.
Frenchtown UMC, located at 16 Third Street, has been a part of the Frenchtown community since 1842.
