The skies over Lambertville and New Hope will again explode with color this summer as the Delaware River Towns Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau tonight secured approvals for the return of the popular fireworks program.
Fireworks will be presented the following Fridays throughout the summer: May 20th, June 3, July 1, August 5, and September 2. All shows are slated to begin at 9:30 p.m. and last 10 minutes.
The fireworks are being aligned with the expansion of the Chamber’s popular “First Fridays” program, which last year highlighted the arts and crafts in more than three-dozen galleries in both Lambertville and New Hope. In addition, this year the Chamber will be adding retail and restaurants from throughout the Delaware River Towns region into the program, as well as more live music on front porches throughout both downtowns, and on the streets.
“We want to make the Delaware River Towns not just a place to be for fireworks, but the place to spend an entire day,” said David Morgan, executive director of the Delaware River Towns Chamber. “We want to take the excitement that previously had built throughout our communities after the sun went down and spread it across the entire day.”
“By expanding First Fridays, the fireworks can be a capstone to a day spent along the river,” said Glenn Davis, Chamber president. “From Frenchtown all the way to Washington’s Crossing, there is plenty to do and see during the day, well before the first firework shell is even prepped for launch.”
The fireworks will be launched from a barge in the Delaware River south of the Lambertville-New Hope Toll-Supported Bridge. They again will be provided by Celebrations Fireworks of Slatington, Pennsylvania.
To help support the fireworks program, the Chamber will be hosting a fundraiser the evening of Friday, May 13, at the Hotel du Village in New Hope.
