Veterans Invited To Production of “Guys & Dolls”
A collaboration has been formed in Bucks County to support Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce joins with Bucks County Playhouse to present A Playhouse Salute to Our Veteran Community on Sunday, July 30, 2017. As part of the salute, veterans will be treated to the matinee performance of the Playhouse’s upcoming production of Frank Loesser’s classic Broadway musical “Guys & Dolls” as well as a picnic catered by the Logan Inn of New Hope.
The Lead Sponsor for the event is Doylestown Health, with additional sponsorship by the Central Bucks Family YMCA and the Logan Inn. Also supporting this salute is the New Hope Chamber of Commerce and Delaware River Towns Chamber of Commerce. A portion of the proceeds from tickets sold to the matinee at the Playhouse also will benefit the event.
A Salute to Our Veteran Community invites 100 veterans of the United States Armed Forces to be the special guests at the show, followed by a BBQ picnic hosted by New Hope’s historic Logan Inn. Veterans are being invited through various non-profit Veterans organizations throughout the region. An active duty veteran, IS1 Kelly Corcoron of Philadelphia who served in Afghanistan in 2011-2012 and is working on her MBA at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, will be recognized at the event.
Dr. Vail P. Garvin, President & CEO of Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, and their Board of Directors are thrilled about this new partnership between the Chamber and the Playhouse and the support they are getting from the New Hope Chamber and the Delaware River Towns Chamber as well as Logan Inn. She said, “It is indeed a privilege to be working with Alex Fraser and the staff of the Bucks County Playhouse. Our shared commitment to Veterans is truly a Community Salute to America and the service men and women who protect our freedom every day. We are delighted to bring the culture of the historic Playhouse to the Veterans. I sincerely thank Jim Donahue and Larry Rubini for helping us reach out to the Veterans in the Army, Navy and Marines. We hope it’s the beginning of an annual Salute.”
Alexander Fraser, Producing Director of Bucks County Playhouse, said, “Vail and I have been speaking about a salute to veterans since the first time we met three years ago, and I’m thrilled to join Central Bucks Chamber in creating this event. We hope this year’s Salute will be the first in a series of annual programs as an expression of gratitude for U.S. veterans’ service to our country. We sincerely thank our sponsors, and New Hope Chamber and Delaware River Towns Chamber as well as Logan Inn for joining in this first-year Salute.”
